LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (LAX)
DEVIATION FROM OVER-OCEAN OPERATIONS
August 13 to 15, 2024
12 AM – 6:30 AM
Deviation from Over-Ocean Operations is expected to occur due to the closure of the north outboard runway 24R/6L and certain taxiways to conduct maintenance and work relating to the North Airfield Exit Taxiways Project on the following dates:
- August 13 – 15, 2024, Monday to Thursday
Whenever possible, the FAA transitions LAX air traffic flow to Over-Ocean Operations from 12 AM to 6:30 AM, wherein aircraft arrive and depart over the ocean to minimize noise disturbance to the communities directly east of the airport. During this traffic flow, the south runway complex is utilized primarily for departures while the north runway complex is utilized primarily for arrivals.
Normally closing Runway 24R/6L does not require the FAA to deviate from Over-Ocean Operations. However, in this circumstance, the work areas will require simultaneously closing said runway and certain taxiways on these nights. This combination of closures limits aircraft ground movement and requires deviation from this traffic flow.
Residents may notice a change in aircraft flight activity and noise as a result of this deviation. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this temporary condition.
Expected Nighttime Traffic Flow during Aug 13 - 15 Closure
