Happy holidays, airport friends!

 

As the year comes to a close and our terminals fill with the joyful sounds of the season, I am reminded of the energy and excitement that “Jingle Bell Rock” brings. Just like the song says:

 

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock,
Jingle bell chime in jingle bell time,
Dancing and prancing in Airport Square,
Way up in the air!

 

This is truly the bright time — the right time — to travel, to celebrate, and to mix and mingle with family, friends, and our amazing airport community. Whether you are flying out or welcoming loved ones home, may your holidays be filled with laughter, warmth, and wonderful memories.

 

Join us this Saturday, December 20, for our annual Santa Fly In event. Santa will be at LAX from 9 - 11 a.m. and at Van Nuys Airport from 2-4 p.m. with plenty of activities including a DJ, arts and crafts, photo opportunities and airplanes.

On November 25, the Community Relations Division and Airport Commissioner Vanessa Aramayo hosted a tour for Latino leaders from Southeast Los Angeles, showcasing new LAX facilities including the Rental Car Center and the Midfield Satellite Concourse South Extension. LAWA CEO John Ackerman, BOAC President Karim Webb, and Deputy Executive Directors Courtney Moore and Mark Frank also briefed the group on workforce development initiatives at LAWA and “The Big Idea,” which outlines ongoing plans to bring more of Los Angeles into LAX.

Here is a recap of LAX related news you may have missed. 
December highlights: 
  • On Thursday, December 11 LAX honored the LAX Area Advisory Committee members with an end-of-year celebratory dinner.
  • LAWA's Airport Police Division hosted its annual Holiday Kick-Off event on December 6 at their headquarters in Westchester. Community Relations and Bus Operations teams were on-site to collect toys through our Stuff-A-Bus campaign.
  • LAWA Community Relations handed out giveaways at the Venice Sign Lighting event on December 6.
  • LAWA Community Relations teams were at Winterfest at Westchester Park and El Segundo Winter Wonderland events on Saturday, December 13.
